If you are in Australia and seeking asylum from your country of origin for fear of persecution for reasons pertaining to race, religion, political opinion or nationality, Australia may be able to protect your critical human rights requests through the protection visa.

Australia is obliged to protect refugees against significant risk under the Refugees Convention. If returning to your home country that will cause a threat to your human rights, human dignity or even threaten your life, Australia will protect you against these inhumane concerns.

Australian Migration Network understands the magnitude of these vicious situations and aims to help and support our vulnerable clients in successfully obtaining these visas through our professional experience.

To qualify for the onshore protection visa, the applicant must:

  • engage Australia’s protection obligations as either:

  • a refugee as defined by the Refugees Convention; or

  • having met the Complementary Protection criteria as specified in Australian Migration Act 1958; and

  • meet certain health and character requirements.

Family members of these applicants may also be accepted. The applicant and their included family should be in Australia at the time of application.

There are many advantages of the protection visa. Successful applicants will be able to:

  • live in Australia as a permanent resident;

  • work in Australia;

  • include their partner, children and dependant relatives in this visa;

  • have access to Medicare, Australia’s financial healthcare system; and

  • have access to Centrelink, Australia’s welfare support system.

If you are at risk of threats to your life or human rights and if you are unable to return to your country of origin, then Australia is obligated to help you. We are committed to protecting your human rights. We are confident and have the skill required to protect your rights in obtaining legal status in Australia where you are free from persecution.
